West Hollywood Pig Lands a Celebrity Ending

A black-and-white piglet went zooming down Hayworth Avenue while at least three people attempted the deceptively difficult task of cornering something small, determined and apparently late for an appointment.

The pint-sized pursuit unfolded in West Hollywood on Aug. 15, 2026, after the pig was spotted running through the neighbourhood. Viewers later nicknamed him “Wilbur,” a dignified literary name for an animal whose immediate priority was refusing to be caught.

Jamaal Harrison came across the runaway while riding an ebike. He began following the piglet and chased him for about 100 feet, recording the pursuit on video as Wilbur hurried along the street on his very short but highly committed legs.

During the chase, Harrison crossed paths with Megan Gullett, who filmed the escape from a different angle. Thus, in proper Los Angeles fashion, the pig had acquired multiple camera operators before he had acquired anyone capable of stopping him.

Wilbur then turned down an alley, where Harrison encountered another man who also tried to catch the fugitive. Video showed the piglet speeding straight past him and continuing his escape, neatly demonstrating that three humans do not necessarily constitute a plan.

The episode became popular online, with the little traveller earning the additional description of the “WeHo pig.” Unlike the traditional little piggy who goes to market, this one had chosen Hayworth Avenue, followed by an alley and a brief spell as a local celebrity.

The pursuit did eventually end safely. The piglet was taken into the care of Los Angeles Animal Services, which subsequently announced that he was available for adoption. The chase was featured in a television report on Aug. 18, three days after Wilbur’s unscheduled tour of West Hollywood.

His story then received the sort of ending available mainly in Los Angeles: Wilbur was adopted by a songwriter. No record deal was announced, but the runaway pig had at least managed to secure an industry connection without the customary round of meetings.

Wilbur will now leave street pursuits behind for his new home. The people who tried to catch him can console themselves with the knowledge that their unsuccessful efforts helped turn a loose piglet into one of West Hollywood’s more wholesome brief sensations—and, ultimately, into somebody’s pet.
